HELP!!! how much should I feed my lab puppy?
Okay my lab puppy is 8 weeks old and I am getting a very healthy dog food (Life’s Abundance) and I am putting it on auto ship how long will a 20 pound bag last me?????
oh and how much should I feed her and what time of day??
It is no good just getting a dog food. He needs the dog food that the breeder has been giving him. You cannot just change a puppy from one to another without causing them to get the runs. Sometimes they can get quite ill from that.
So you need a bag of food of whatever the breeder has him on now, and if she is a good breeder then they will also give you details of how much and when to feed. If you want to change over then do it after about a month, and then do it very gradually.
A puppy of 8 weeks is on 4 meals a day, so I hope the “what time of day” didn’t indicate that you are thinking once a day. The usual is something like 8 am, 12 noon, 4 pm and 8 pm or as close as you can to that. The quantity should be on the bag as well as being told by the breeder.
Please do not try and free feed as Miki M suggests. It is not good for any dogs digestion to eat this way, but also, most dogs will not regulate their intake and especially not greedy dogs like labs. You will just have a fat dog and that will do not good for your growing labs joints which you have to protect.
