Whats wrong with commercial dog food??
Well i was wondering why people dont use it and are feeding there dogs realy expensive foods from health stores or online stores?
It’s a personal decision- I guess I am a bit cynical and given the rumours and some proven facts that euthanised animals are put in dog food and that the meat in it is not what we imagine it to be- google 4-D meat. I mean I can’t say positvely that crap goes into dog food but think about it- if you’re paying $10 for 10kg of food- you aren’t exactly getting much gd quality meat if any. And despite meat being the first content- it is important to consider that the meat includes water, so if you take out the water from the meat, it will no longer be the first ingredient- so look for meat meal- though then the problem is meat meal-what’s that.
I believ there is not enough regulations on dog food and hey of the ingredients list say it’s meat and rice etc then I see no harm in feeding my dogs the same but using huma grade ingredients and being absolutely sure what is in my dogs food. Furthermore, they love the taste and I have known dogs fed on home cooked diets who have lived till 20!
Try to aim for 1/3 pasta or rice, 1/3 meat and apparently 1/3 veggies- that’s what 1 vet told me but I don’t add to much veggies.
It’s quick and simple.
Boil 2 cups of pasta- when it gets soft- add meat, mince works well as does slices of chicken, add some finely chopped or grated or food processed veggies- I liek using a combination, carrots, celery- NO GARLIC OR ONION.
I use a variety of meats, veggies and pasta and rice to make sure they get a variety.this whole completely balanced thing- come on, we humans domn’t all take vitamins etc but by eating a variety we are managing alright so why would things be differnt for a dog? The dog’s body in ways are similar to humans, liek when they have hyperthyroidism or giardia- they are given the same human medication.
