Ground yellow corn, soybean meal, ground whole wheat are all grain & are known allergens in dogs. Dog food ingredients are listed in order of weight. The ingredients before the first listing of fat comprise the vast majority of the food. As you can see there is no meat in this product – dogs are members of the order carnivora meaning that they need a diet consisting of prey animals.
The corn syrup is an unnecessary ingredient it is added to the food to make the dog want to eat it. A food with a high meat content is naturally appetizing to dogs. Diets high in sugar have been known to cause obesity, increase risk of cancers, cause yeast infections, cause tooth decay, diabetes – and of course all the problems that go along with these conditions! There have also been studies indicating that high sugar diets contribute to many behavior problems. Several schools for troubled children have outright banned sugar – and have seen a positive effect.
Meat and bone meal is not from a named meat source – menaing it can come from ANYTHING accordign to the AAFCO standards. 4 D cattle, roadkill, euthanised pets from animal shelters, etc.
BHA is a perservative that has been proven carcinogenic in animal experiments & is banned in many countries (not the US) because the danger.
Meadione Sodium Bisulfite has been BANNED for use in over the counter (human) products because of it’s high toxicity. It causes cytotoxicity in liver cells, causes hemolytic anemia and hyperbilirubinemia, considerably weakens the immune system, has possible mutagenic effects, & is directly toxic in high doses.
Now consider dogs are eating this stuff EVERY DAY and are constantly being exposed to all those nasties.
