Wellness Cat Food Diarrhea

My vet recommended Iams Low Residue, was feeding Wellness before…?

So my cat started vomiting & having diarrhea for a couple days, and the vet recommended to put her on Iams Low Residue. Before I was feeding her Wellness wet food. After looking at the ingredients I’m not so sure Iams is such a good thing to feed a cat long term…Corn Grits? Rice? etc.

Am I just paranoid?

Vets recommend whatever food they sell out of their clinic. Most of the time it is not a quality food.

What was the reason the vet gave for your cat being sick? Was it a food allergy? Or was it the flu or a cold?

If it was a food allergy, how does the vet know this unless they tested for allergies? If they did, then you should know what ingredient the cat is allergic to and go with a good canned food that does not contain that ingredient. You could try Evo, or perhaps another flavor of Wellness. There are a lot of quality canned foods available so there is no reason any cat should have to eat IAMS.

I feed quality food, not necessarily what vets recommend. Corn and rice are not good foods for cats and if your cat already has digestive problems, things will only get worse after it is eating junk food!
